Sylvie Landois-Maynard, “SLM”: this is how this artist signs her works. SLM displays her paintings on the rails of Seissan Mediatheque until the end of April after numerous exhibitions throughout France and abroad. She is a confirmed artist and expresses herself through the sculpture of stone or by paintings as we can see at the Mediatheque. Twenty of her works are here in large and medium formats. SLM has a real passion for architecture and geometric shapes, as we discover in her paintings. Her technique is a clever interaction of paint rollers and brushes and a final touch in oil with which she signs her works. For a time, SLM has left aside the easel and works flat, an intended technique in the use of ink to prevent drips. On entering the exhibition, you will be pleasantly surprised by the design created by SLM, which is quite unusual in Astarac Space.
The exhibition is on until the end of April on opening days: Wednesdays from 10 to 12 and from 2 to 6; Thursday from 10 to 12; Friday and Saturday from 9 to 1.

"Geometric" paintings at the Mediatheque

SLM - Exposition médiathèque de Seissan- April 2014
SLM (Sylvie Landois Maynard), a genial artist

Both painter and stone sculptor, Sylvie Landois Maynard displays 17 paintings, all very recent creations, until the end of the month. This Parisian, established since 2003 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, has already displayed her works several times in Auch under Serge Délain Foundation, and also in Toulouse, Bordeaux and even Germany in 2010. Looking over all for sobriety, this artist who is passionate about architecture and is always evolving, produces a discrete painting which leaves all opportunities of interpretation to the viewer interested in the canvas. The painting is always the result of a long reflection of the artist before giving her first stroke. Then it results in a guiding line, a direction the artist will follow until she decides that the work is completed. Painting is primarily in oil for transparency; via the drying time the artist appropriates the subject and gives the final touch with the fluidity of acrylic colours. At Seissan, the name "Géométries" given to the exhibition is not due to chance. Although of different sizes, all paintings are of a square format, straight lines are connected at times by curves. Here, black colour, there different shades of grey, white, some blue and of course interlaced squares are found in each painting. If several years of training in an art school allowed her to acquire a substantial basis in art, she quickly wanted to fly on her own so as not to be hampered in her approaches and evolution. Now, no human presence, even if it sensed more than it is expressed; the characters have completely disappeared. Sylvie Landois Maynard will not necessarily stop there. We will follow her metamorphoses to come on her website: www.slm47.com.
Meanwhile, a visit to Astarac Space at the Mediatheque is possible until the end of April on Wednesdays from 10 to 12 and 2 to 5, on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 to 1.
